Experiment Recruiting

This summer Mark Van Boening (of the University of Mississippi) and I will conduct an economics experiment. The experiment will be conducted in Bidgood Hall and will require approximately 2 hours of your time. Most individuals earn between $15 and $30 based on their participation in the
experiment. The earnings students receive depends upon their decisions, the
decisions of others and a random element. Participants will be paid in cash at
the end of the experiment.

The experiment will involve economic decision-making, but no background in economics is required to participate. We read instructions, go over examples and take questions to clarify how things work.

There is no deception employed in the experiment and no physical risk associated with it. The experiment has been approved by the Institutional Review Boards of the University of Alabama and the University of Mississippi. The data generated from the experiment will be used in an academic research paper, but your participation will be kept confidential. Your decision of whether or not to participate in the experiment will not affect your grade in any class.

This is a chance to participate in research that will result in a paper that we expect to publish in an academic journal. Most people who participate find the experience to be interesting and enjoyable.

To participate in the experiment, you must be in the campus area during June (so that you can get to Bidgood Hall at the time of the experiment). Experiments will take place at 2 PM on dates to be determined. Our expectation is that the experiments will be run during the week of June 4th and the week of June 11th. If you think you might like to participate, please send an e-mail to experiment@cba.ua.edu or call me at 205-348-0379.
