Marketing 518: Marketing Management and Decision Making
This course focuses on the application of marketing concepts to managerial decision making across topic areas of corporate level strategy, marketing research, markets, products, pricing, promotional, supply chain management, electronic commerce and international marketing. The goal of the course is to tie the marketing related business concepts and tools to real world situations preparing students for dynamic decision making in their careers. The course content will incorporate lectures, intensive class discussion, intensive case analysis, guest speakers, video, and student/team presentations. (3 Hours)
Marketing 522: Supply Chain Strategy Capstone
Supply Chain Strategies are key to firms developing a sustainable competitive advantage. This course builds on the supply chain and logistics principles discussed in MKT 511 (Supply Chain Management) addressing the changing and increasingly important role of supply chain management from a strategic standpoint. Topics include Category Management, Distribution Strategy, Inventory & Information Strategy, Materials Handling & Packaging, Operations Integration, Outsourcing, Partnering & Customer Relationship Strategy, Redesign & Contingency Planning, Reverse Logistics, Strategic Sourcing, Technology, Transportation, Security, & Regulations, TQM, Selection, and Staffing, and Facility Strategy & Location. The main objective of the course is to teach the participants how to develop a comprehensive supply chain to support overall business objectives. The course is case and simulation based giving the student hands on pragmatic training for their first career placement. (3 Hours)
General Business Administration 592 - 001: Strategy Practicum
This course jump starts project work and strategic skills for students entering the strategy concentration. Teams complete projects for philanthropic and for-profit organizations and take part in specially designed sessions including team building, group networking, guest speakers, professional development, experience based field trips, and social interaction. (2 Hours) (For Spring of 2008 this course is listed as MKT 497).
General Business Administration 592 - 002: Strategy Leadership and Mentoring
This course immerses second year MBA students in the top level managment of groups. Students work in hosting teams to train frst year MBAs on improtant topics that will drive their success. This continuous improvement appoach to pedagogy gets front line students directly involved in the management of the Startegy Practicum. Second year students lead first year projects; host information sessions, guest seakers, business tours, etc.; mentor students preparing for internships, and develope and participate in a major community service event in conjucntion with the local chapter of Net Impact. Marketing 591: Supply Chain Consulting
A field based implementation of MKT 518 and MKT 522 examining and analyzing a target firm's supply chain marketing process. Emphasis is on decision making: the refinement of skills needed to recognize and solve marketing problems, and to effectively communicate recommendations both within and without the organization.
