Wireless and Network Access

The Bruno Library offers wireless Internet access throughout the facility as part of the campus wireless network. Follow the instructions on the Seebeck Help Desk website to learn how to configure a laptop with wireless capability to access the Internet using the wireless network. If you wish to access University resources over the wireless network (email, library databases, etc.), you must also set up a VPN connection on your laptop. The Seebeck Help Desk website provides instructions for registering and creating a VPN connection for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

The Bruno Library also offers a large number of active network drops in the facility for use by persons whose laptops are equipped with standard network cards rather than wireless capability. Users must supply their own network patch cables to plug into the jacks. Please note that these are jacks with Ehternet wiring, not phone jacks; there is no provision for dial-up access via modem. Network jacks are located along the wall in the northeast quadrant of the building on the second and third floors, throughout the ground floor reading area, and in each of the six group study rooms. Users with questions about wired network access should ask for Karen Chapman at any of the library service desks.
