- Honors, Achievements and Affiliations:
Linda M. Parsons earned her Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Houston and is a licensed CPA (Texas). Prior to joining the University of Alabama, she was on the faculty at George Mason University. Before her academic career, Linda was a Vice President for Risk Management at Bears Stearns & Company in New York, the Controller of the Kinkaid School in Houston, and an audit manager at Deloitte & Touche. Her research focuses on accounting for charitable organizations, and is published in journals such as the Accounting Review, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, and Journal of Accounting Literature. She is the President of the Government and Nonprofit Section of the American Accounting Association, the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action, and is currently an associate editor for Accounting Horizons. Linda has received several awards for scholarship and teaching.
