Five-Year Review of Phifer Fellows
August 2002
Five-year reviews of faculty named as Phifer Fellows will follow essentially the same procedures as outlined in our C&BA Faculty Handbook in our "Policy for Reviewing Named Professorships and Endowed Chairs." The same dates will be observed for submitting the dossier and for other steps in the review process. The only substantive difference will be in the nature of the dossier submitted.
Given that the appointment letters for Phifer Fellows specifically state that renewal of the appointment will be based upon performance in scholarly productivity, quality of teaching, and overall evidence of leadership, the dossier should provide documentation regarding achievements in each of these three dimensions.
Accordingly, at a minimum the dossier for five-year reviews for Phifer Fellows should contain the following elements:
- A statement or letter of application for reappointment from the candidate, which outlines the candidate's achievements in each of the three dimensions of performance: scholarship, teaching, and leadership.
- An up-to-date career performance report.
- Copies of papers accepted or published over the Phifer Fellow's expiring term of appointment.
- Teaching evaluations for the term of appointment.
- Evidence of leadership over the term of appointment.
The candidate is also welcome to provide any additional materials that he or she wishes to provide.
