Information for Students

Electronic resources

The Bruno Library subscribes to a wide variety of electronic databases, many of which are available to users outside the library. Visit the databases page on our website to see the complete list. All databases marked "UA, Remote" can be accessed from off campus; databases marked "C&BA complex" can be accessed from any of the C&BA buildings. Databases may offer information on companies, economic time series data, research reports, or articles from magazines, newspapers, and scholarly journals.

Loans, renewals and fines
  • Loan period: 30 days
  • Electronic renewal through the public catalog except in May
  • Limit of 100 items

If a recall is placed on an item you have checked out, it changes the due date, and you must return the item by the new due date to avoid incurring a fine.

Fines for books are $.25 per day, to a maximum of $10.00. The lost book replacement fee is $45.00 plus a nonrefundable $10 processing fee.

Document delivery

If we don't have the item you need, you can use one of the following document delivery methods to request the item from elsewhere.

  • Borrowing partners (through the library catalog) – books only
  • KUDZU (access through the library catalog) – books only
  • Interlibrary Loan – online request system, create an account, track progress of your requests
Photocopying and printing in the library

Photocopying and printing costs are five cents per page. The library's printing system is separate from the system used in the Bashinsky Computer Lab and requires that the user have BamaCash on his Action Card. Photocopying may be done using that system or the old Copicard system.

Research assistance

Come by during our reference hours to speak to a librarian at the reference desk. You can also call us at 348-1080 or email us through our Ask a Librarian service.

Course reserves

Course reserves are available through the Libraries' Catalog. Reserve materials may be print or electronic. Electronic reserves take three forms:

  • Articles or other materials we have photocopied and scanned
  • Articles full-text in our databases
  • Web sites

Print reserve materials appear in the catalog with a location such as "Business Library Reserves." You can check out Business Library reserves for in-building use from the circulation desk on the ground floor of the Bruno Business Library.

Employment

If you are interested in working in the Bruno Library, please come by our ground floor circulation desk and fill out an application.
