includes a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V and an ICOM IC-706MKIIG and a
Yaesu VL-1000 solid state linear. Click on the picture to see a full
panorama. I use three antennas--a 3-element Yagi for 20-15-10, an inverted-V for 40, and a dual-band vertical for 144 and 440. HF antenna switching and antenna tuning on HF is handled by the Quadra. The Quadra also supports two inputs, allowing both the FT-1000 and the IC-706 to both take advantage of the linear and HF automatic antenna switching and tuning. TRX-Manager is used to help control the FT-1000 and the IC-706MKIIG. Written by F6DEX, the program can control many of the Mark V's and IC-706's functions. Computer control adds a lot fun and excitement to chasing DX. |

The TRX-Manager screen shot on the left has several hot spots if you would like to explore program features. A complete TRX-Manager presentation is also available. To learn more about the current version of TRX-Manager and its many capabilities, please visit the TRX-Manager home page. DX spots are displayed in the lower right-hand window. A right-click on the desired spot gives you several choices: QSY, DXCC and Beam Heading, Callbook Info, DX-Atlas, Paste to Log, and Search for QSO. Selecting QSY sends the rig to the reported frequency and mode; gives country and the appropriate beam heading on the Azimuthal map; reports on country awards; and fills but does not save a log entry. Click on hot spots for a larger view.

TRX-Manager developer, Laurent Labourie, continues to add features and new rigs to TRX-Manager. His dedication to the application has created an outstanding feature rich and very well maintained radio control program.Clicking on the rotate arrow to the right of the Azimuthal map moves the beam to the short or long path heading. Many of the rig's functions can be controlled from the Monitor located top center. The Monitor reports VFO A/B, S-Meter, and access to other rig functions. If you have every thought you wanted to try a computer control program, let me encourage you to try TRX-Manager. The picture to the right was taken at sunset from my neighbor's backyard. I've always thought beauty was in the eye of the beholder! 73
